Comporta Cycling

There are four roads which are mainly used for cycling around Comporta, all of which host a number of cyclists who normally ride in packs.

The roads are relatively flat and one only has to take caution with being clearly visible to the passing vehicle.

Parts of some of the roads include purpose-made cycle tracks which offer convenience and security.

Although, we do not hear of many accidents involving cyclists, one must always take care and make sure that one is wearing the necessary garments and accessories.

As it can be quite hot in the summer months, it is recommend that you carry sufficient liquids with you to last for the duration of your journey.

Check with your hotel or holiday home owner to see if bikes are part of your package.

If not, there are a number of bike rental companies who will assist

Bike Routes

Troia to Comporta N253 – 1

The Troia Peninsula stretches for 17km between Troia Resort and Comporta.

The first part of approximately 10km has a bicycle track and boasts dune, ocean and river views.

Sol Troia to Comporta N253 – 1

Approximately 7km in length.

This road winds around the curves of the Sado Estuary and the Atlantic Ocean and offers quite dynamic views on either side

Alcacer do Sal to Comporta N253

This single-carriage road runs for around 27km with many stunning views to the Sado Estuary and Serra da Arrabida Nature Reserve in the background

Grandola to Comporta N261 – 1

This relatively flat but sometimes bumpy road of 30km mainly travels through the countryside with many cork and pine forests along its route

Carvalhal to Comporta N261

This road of 14km is part of the same road that leads from Grandola to Comporta and passes through the hamlet of Brejos da Carregueira with views to the dunes and in parts pine forests

Melides to Comporta N261

You will cycle for 29km between the two villages passing many forests of mainly pine and cork as well as passing the Pinheiro da Cruz open prison, the road that leads to Aberta Nova Beach and through Caveira and Saibreira.

Carvalhal Village to Carvalhal and Pego Beach

You can cycle to either of these much-acclaimed beaches from Carvalhal Village at a short distance of only 2.5km.

The ride with views to the ricefields is along the purpose made cycle-tracks.
