Praia da Comporta Beach
Apart from Comporta’s natural beauty, superb gastronomy and wines; A dolphin pod, two hundred bird species, golf courses and traditional architecture, Praia da Comporta Beach is one of the most stunning, award winning beaches south of Lisbon and certainly one of the best beaches in Comporta and within the entire Iberian Peninsula
Praia da Comporta Beach
Located just outside of Comporta Village on the road which takes you along the awe inspiring Troia Peninsula, this amazing coast area is probably the most popular beach in Comporta due to the large influx of mainly Spanish, French and Portuguese tourists throughout the summer months
Praia da Comporta Beach provides a car parking area which throughout the summer months overflows on to the main Troia Peninsula road
Praia da Comporta Beach, like all other beaches in Comporta stretches further than the eye can see and is made up of medium grain, golden sand which abuts the protected sand dunes on one side and the blue and green Atlantic Ocean on the other
There are two restaurants directly on the Praia da Comporta Beach;
Comporta Cafe Restaurante and Ilha do Arroz – (See Restaurantes)
Both restaurants offer superb cuisine in a laid back fashion, with many a summer evening gifted with mellow sounds from a number of well known Portuguese and international D.J’s

Praia dos Brejos da Carregueira Beach
This private beach in Brejos da Carregueira de Baixo or Praia dos Brejos as it is referred to locally, can only be accessed if you are a resident and own a beach villa within this exclusive condominium or if you happen to own a property within the Herdade da Comporta Private Estate. Praia dos Brejos can only be reached by foot, bicycle or car, via the rice fields which commence in Comporta and extend all the way to Carvalhal
Once you traverse the rice fields you will have a short jaunt through the pine forest before reaching this exclusive sandy golden beach with views to the Serra da Arrabida Nature Reserve, kilometres of beach and of course the Atlantic Ocean
There are no bars or cafes on Praia dos Brejos da Carregueira Beach and therefore it would be wise to take a picnic, refreshments and some shade
Praia do Carvalhal Beach
Praia do Carvalhal Beach is a non pretentious beach where foreigners and locals alike go to kick off their working shoes in exchange for Havaianas and bare feet
Praia do Carvalhal Beach boasts two great beach restaurants, Por do Sol and Restaurante dos Pescadores which both serve superb fish and seafood dishes (See Restaurantes da Praia)
Both restaurants and Praia do Carvalhal Beach are served by a large car park which extends by almost 200m in the summer months to the nearby Carvalhal beach hamlet
Apart from the usual good food and stunning beach, there is also a surf school which caters to both adults and children
Praia do Pego Beach
Praia do Pego Beach as it is locally known is an almost exclusive beach for members and friends of the Espirito Santo family and the international jet set that visit Comporta throughout the summer
Praia do Pego Beach may be considered to be the best beach in Portugal for overall quality, location and clientele
There is only one restaurant on Praia do Pego “Sal” which is an upmarket destination that serves excellent cuisine with both traditional and international flavours
We recommend that you reserve a table at Restaurante Sal throughout the summer months as Praia do Pego Beach is the “need to be seen” place to go, to relax and enjoy laid back yet sophisticated company
Praia do Pego Beach beach provides its clients with a beach side car park and a large overflow area within a five minute walk
Praia do Pego Beach also provides its guests with parasols and sun loungers for a small daily fee, but again we recommend that you book in advance if you want to be guaranteed your spot within this exclusive destination

Praia da Raposa Beach
Praia da Raposa Beach is a private beach with membership access through the Portuguese Prison service and guests
Even though the Praia da Raposa Beach has closed access, if you can ever obtain entry it’s well worth the effort as this beautiful Alentejo beach is lined with red sandstone cliffs and stunningly formed dunes
Due to its prized location, the open prison which is located here is said to be for sale in exchange for a brand new prison in Grandola and cash
Praia da Raposa Beach is an excellent beach on which to fish and catch the local shellfish “Cadalinas” which are well served with ample garlic and lemon either at lunch but especially for breakfast
Praia da Aberta Nova Beach
Praia da Aberta Nova Beach is located along the road that stretches between Carvalhal in Comporta and Melides and is also referred to as Praia da Dourada or the Golden beach
To arrive at the beach from the main road you wind a 5km country path passing the small hamlet of Aberta Nova and sizeable pine forest
Praia da Aberta Nove Beach is used very much by the locals and nearby campers and has a typical bar / snack joint where to obtain light refreshments and snacks
Throughout the year this beach is also frequented by local fishermen whose catch may include sea bass and bream
Praia da Melides Beach
There are two Praia da Melides Beaches which are on opposite side of the Lagoa, (Lake) at located at roughly eight minutes away from the town centre
If you are facing the ocean from the road, the public Praia da Melides beach with its cafe’s and bars is to the left whilst the almost private Praia da Melides Beach with no such services is to the right
The “public” Praia da Melides Beach is frequented by both locals and foreigners who have a strong presence here and whom own many a small estate within the hillside that overlook the countryside and Ocean
The public beach provides a normal sized car park whilst the private one has room for about a dozen cars unless you park along the entrance road to the beach
For a livelier time with refreshments one should visit the public Praia da Melides Beach whilst for total privacy, one should frequent the more reserved secluded private beach
Praia de Sol Troia Beach
Praia de Sol Troia Beach is a golden stretch of sand that lies on the Atlantic Ocean side of the “Soltroia” private condominium of approximately one thousand rarely frequented properties
Praia de Sol Troia Beach is one of the safest in the area and is especially ideal for families and young children because the break in the ocean that is formed by the not too distant Serra da Arrabida Nature Reserve almost slows the ocean to a still
Praia de Soltroia Beach is supported by a large bar and superb beach club and restaurant Utopia which also boasts a huge swimming pool and excellent exterior lounging areas. Praia de Soltroia Beach is served by a small parking area although many of the residents or tourists staying within the condominium leave their cars at home.
Praia de Soltroia Beach provides a great family atmosphere with little or no waves which makes this an ideal spot to dip your toes without fear of being swept away in to what seems on many days a beautiful blue and green ocean.

Praia do troiaresort Beach actually curves around from the Atlantic Ocean to the Sado Estuary overlooking both the port city of Setubal and the secluded Serra da Arrabida Nature Reserve.
