Aberta Nova or the Golden Beach (Dourada) stretches for approximately 3.5km.

You have magnificent views from the top of the dunes which overlook the ocean, beach and surrounding indigenous flora, at its best.

Although there are quite a number of visitors to this beach throughout the summer months, it is never crowded and you can always find a relatively private spot in which to pitch your umbrella.

Beach Access

Accessible Beach.

You may drive to the parking area and then access the beach via a set of steep wooden steps.

Aberta Nova has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag and Gold Quality Standard Awards.

Parking

Secure parking is located 200m from the shoreline which overflows on to on-street parking during the summer months.

Water temperature

The water temperature varies between 14º and 20º with the yearly average at an accommodating 17º, and is the perfect temperature on hot sunny days when you’re desperate to cool down.

Security

The beach has security surveillance with both marine police patrols and life guards on duty throughout the summer months.

Directions

Whether you are travelling from Grandola, Troia or Alcacer do Sal, you will need to join the National road 263 towards Melides. If you are heading south from Carvalhal on the N263 you’ll find the beach on the right-hand-side. If you’re coming from Melides, you’ll find the beach on the left-hand-side.
